As lovely and busy Asakusa and Senso-ji temple is by day, it is quiet and brilliant at night!

While the shrine itself and shops close at 5 p.m. each day, the grounds are open at night. And, its free to visitors (which I really can’t believe).

The grounds at night are pretty exceptional and it really takes your breath away. It’s even more beautiful and shiny in the rain.

For a great view, head to Bar Six (in the same building as the Amuse Museum). We sat outside on the balcony (as the only guests at this time), and marvelled at the pagodas and watched the Skytree building come in and out of view in the mist and rain. Magical and peaceful!
