David and I chose the perfect day to walk all along Barcelona’s beach area – from the W hotel that dominates the skyline on one end, through the main beach area of Barconoleta, to the Port Olimpic bar area. The sun was shining, and we sure put our 60 sunblock to the test (and it passed, no burning)!
We were prepared for the whole topless thing, being in Europe and all. And, sure enough, we saw our fair share of older leather-skinned ladies. But, the big surprise of the day was passing the “anything goes” area. We saw many more naked men than women here… yep, full on naked, and proud! As Dave says, “swinging in the wind.”
Definitely a different vibe on the beach than the rest of Barcelona. Very laid back, as you would expect. I can see why people want to live and visit here often – this city offers the best of many worlds – a bustling city, bohemian areas and a beach to get away from it all. We are sad to be leaving here later today, but excited to get to the south of France for a new experience.
