On occasion through the years, I have heard about a very small restaurant tucked in behind the grounds of the Saskatchewan Legislature as part of the Lakeshore Tennis Club. Bliss Bistro is hard to find (my friend and I walked around the entire tennis court hidden behind trees to eventually find the small walkway). Happily, it is worth the search.
I went for lunch with a friend on a beautifully sunny summer day. Bliss Bistro is tiny, but has a very fresh and interesting menu of salads, soups and sandwiches. If you are lucky, you can get a place on one of the tables outside, and watch people playing tennis. It made me think of summers of my youth watching Wimbledon on tv with my very good tennis-playing brother.
I chose the soup of the day, which was a roasted tomato soup, and the bliss salad (full of strawberries, some goat cheese and lemon poppyseed dressing). The soup was unbelievably tasty and a little chunky (just how I like it) and the salad was delicious!
My friend chose an avocado and cheese sandwich with her bliss salad – and it looked really great too!
I completely recommend taking some time to try out Bliss Bistro if you are looking for something fresh and new! It is open from 10-2 for lunch on Tues – Sat, and 5-7 for dinner on Tues – Thurs.
