Since arriving in Argentina I have been dying to see a traditional grill, and in particular a lamb slow grilling over a fire. I’ve seen it on many Anthony Bourdain travel shows, and really wanted to see it for myself. I got the chance in Calafate.
Calafate is known for its lamb, and as I walked around town, I came across a local restaurant that had it on display. It’s pretty impressive.
But the best really was to come at our group dinner at Don Pichon. Apparently the best lamb in town.
The lamb looked impressive all splayed out, and when it arrived at our table, the Cordero for One really could have easily been Cordero for three!! The portion was massive!
The grilled potatoes and sweet potato was incredible, and the lamb was the best I have ever tasted. Especially the greasy and crunchy bits! It was so large, I had to get a bit unladylike and use my fingers. And… I didn’t come close to eating it all… not even a little bit!
