Dave and I have already written about staying at the wonderful Hide Awhile property in Negril on the cliffs, and the benefit of access to its sister property Idle Awhile on the beach. It also brought another great bonus – free access to use the fitness and spa facility at the all inclusive resort Couples Swept Away Negril.
While we aren’t the all inclusive types (we like to wander and explore and meet locals), we totally appreciated entering part of that world for our last day in Negril. The owners of Hide Awhile also own Couples Swept Away Negril, which is obvious as soon as you walk in. All three properties have similar interior design and feel. The opportunity to enjoy the fitness and spa facility (across the street from the rest of the resort on the beach) was a lot of fun and we totally enjoyed it.
We started with a swim in the large 25m lap pool – complete with swim lanes! Dave is an expert swimmer, and I also love to swim laps. It was gorgeous to swim outdoors (and the pool wasn’t even that busy).
Following our swim, we made our way to the spa. Like any spa, you have to make a reservation ahead of time, and it doesn’t come free with the resort (a couples massage cost us $200 US). Dave and I chose a 50 minute couples massage, but started with a dip in the “warm pool” inside the spa facility. It felt great after the swim outdoors. I loved the buddha in the center of the long pool, and it got us totally relaxed. We were also lucky to just miss the rush of other people getting ready for their treatments, so I would recommend a 2 p.m. time slot if you can get it!
The moment are lovely massage therapists welcomed us into the massage room, we knew were were in for a treat. They were so lovely and fun to chat with (great sense of humour), and they tailored the massages to our unique tastes. I like a massage for relaxation and Dave needs a deep tissue massage. We both walked out of there wowed. It was glorious and worth every penny!
