A digital meat thermometer will save you all kinds of grief when roasting meat. It takes the guesswork out of the equation. When will the meat be done? How do I know if it’s fully cooked? Simple pick the type of meat and how you want it done and this thing will let you know when it’s just about ready. It starts beeping when it’s 5 degrees away from your desired temperature. The only thing you need to do is make sure that the end of the probe is located in the thickest part of the meat and that it’s not right next to a bone. The probe is attached to the device with a long wire that can stand up to the heat of the oven. The only time that this thing has steered me wrong was when I didn’t put the probe in the right spot.

I have a couple of instant read thermometers but my digital meat thermometer is the tool I always use when making a roast in the oven.
