It’s 5:30 a.m. and I am wide awake in Las Vegas. Not because I was partying all night, but because my body thinks it is actually 7:30 a.m. back home in Regina.

One of the bonuses of jet lag is the time it opens up to blog about where you are. So, let me tell you about my first experiences with the Encore Las Vegas.

First of all, I had an incredibly smooth arrival to Las Vegas. One of the first off the plane, quickly through customs and a quick taxi ride to the Encore – a resort on the north end of the strip. I like the location for this shopping and spa trip… it’s right across the street from the fashion show mall, and I will be visiting the Encore spa twice during this visit.

The moment I arrived, I knew the hotel would offer just what I was looking for when I booked. It’s quiet, really quiet, for a Las Vegas casino/hotel. The woman at the front counter told me that while it was a quiet night (no line up to check in!), it is usually a quiet hotel. She offered me an upgrade to a higher floor (59) for $20 per night to ensure I wasn’t bothered by noise. I jumped at the chance.

Up at the room – I completely love the decor and the layout. A long corridor takes you to the bedroom with a large and comfy king sized bed (the reason I am up so early is not because the bed is not comfortable)! I also love the touch controls for lighting and drapes right beside the bed.

It is separated by a cute sitting room by a cut out wall and swiveling tv. The desk is perfect for writing blogs!

The bathroom is what I am really in love with. It was complementary robes (I love a hotel robe) and a tv for entertainment when you are relaxing in the large soaker tub (which I plan to do several times on this trip – I even brought Lush bath bombs with me). I also love the double sinks (though I don’t need them just on my own) and the large separate shower.

I can’t wait to try out the bath products that are laid out for me in the shower this morning.

Off to enjoy that bathroom and get ready for a day of outlet mall shopping!
