We came to Ex Nihilo Winery for the Pinot Noir (so good this year’s vintage is sold out), but we were really wowed by the pizza!
The winery has Chaos Bistro on the property, and is well known for its Italian-style thin pizza. At lunch, there is a limited menu, or you can have wine tastings with small food pairings. We chose the pizza, and are so glad that we did!
We decided to split a Chaos Verde small salad to start. It was a very large portion, and the basil lime dressing was incredibly fresh, to go along with the locally-sourced lettuce and tomatoes, some feta and toasted almonds. This salad blew our socks off it was so good!
Our pizza was even better! I chose a simple margherita pizza. The walnut basil pesto and crisp thin crust made me feel like I was in Italy again.
David chose the Italian salami pizza. The salami was distinctive and strong with a bacon and smoky taste and a touch of fennel.
Overall, we had a fantastic lunch on the patio at Chaos Bistro, which is located at Lake Country near Kelowna, and we enjoyed the glass of Merlot that we had with lunch. While this year’s Pinot noir was sold out, we were able to grab three bottles of Pinot from previous years… Success!!
