I have to start off this post by saying the pictures are pretty awful. But, the experience was incredible!
My good friend Kim and I went to Los Angeles several years ago, and went to the Gospel Brunch at the House of Blues on Sunset Strip. We loved it so much, that we wanted to try the Las Vegas version at the House of Blues in the Mandalay Bay hotel.
The House of Blues is a music and restaurant venue. If you are going to the Sunday Gospel Brunch, I recommend dishing out for the VIP tickets. You get seated first, close to the stage and the amazing entertainment. You also get first dibs on the brunch, and all the amazing southern food.
I don’t go to church. I consider myself spiritual, but not religious. I make my own music, and I dance to it. But, if church was like this in my home town, I just might make a regular habit of it.
But first, the food. It’s a brunch of southern favourites (fried chicken, waffles, grits, eggs and omelettes, and my personal favourite, biscuits and gravy). It’s not all that healthy (including the all you can drink mimosas), but it is a fabulous brunch! The venue is very dark, so my pictures don’t do this buffet justice at all!
But the highlight of the brunch for me is the wonderful music and the amazing talent. It all starts with standing up to testify, dancing by your seat, and waving around your napkin in appreciation for the musicians and all the blessings in your life.
The Sunday Gospel Brunch is a wonderful way to enjoy a Vegas show and good down-home food…and feel good about yourself and your life too. A truly heavenly experience.
