The Caravelle Hotel (19-23 Lam Son Square, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) is in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. It really is right in the center of everything – high end shopping, restaurants, the Opera House and bargain markets are all within walking distance.
I had a great view of the Opera House and shopping mall outside my window. I was a bit worried about potential traffic noise keeping me up at night (I am a light sleeper), but things got very quiet after 10 pm.
In keeping with its surroundings, this really is a luxury hotel, with a wonderful lobby and very pleasant staff throughout the hotel. The breakfest buffet had everything you could want, and the lobby stores had great gift ideas that weren’t (too) overpriced.
I loved the turndown service, with slippers placed out for me right beside the bed. It made me smile each night. The bed itself was the most comfortable I slept on my entire trip to Vietnam. It was very soft and inviting, and I fell asleep moments after sinking into bed each night. Really, A+++ on that bed!
At about $160/CDN each night, it’s definitely not the cheapest option you can pick in Ho Chi Minh City, but I would highly recommend treating yourself to this hotel. You get what you pay for here – excellent service, great location, and a great night’s sleep!
