We never miss a dinner at Ivan’s Bar any time we are in Negril. It’s a beautiful spot, with gorgeous flowers and mini lights that glow up the night. And the food is delicious!

Ivan’s is not too far from Hide Awhile on the cliffs where we are staying, at the Catcha Falling Star resort. We take advantage of the offer to send a car to pick us up for free when we make a reservation, and we just pay our fare back (about $5 US). What a bargain!

It was a particularly beautiful night this time around, and we felt so very lucky to be here. As we enjoyed our rum punch and mango bellini, we had a great view of Venus shining bright in the sky (thanks to the Night Sky app for helping us figure that out)!

We started our meal with a spicy vegetable soup (we haven’t met a soup in Jamaica that we didn’t like) and the Calypso Trio – a skewer of jerk chicken, a crab cake and jerk shrimp with a delicious dip (that reminded us of coleslaw and potato salad – way better than it sounds). A fantastic start!

Four our main course, I chose the lobster pasta – which was creamy and full of big chunks of lobster. David had the coconut pimento chicken. The pimento sauce was really original, and something he really wanted to try on this trip after talking with a taxi driver about the taste of chicken cooked on pimento boards.

We lounged around Ivan’s for quite a while after dinner, enjoying the ambience and the cool sea breeze. We’ll be back again I’m sure!
