I have a general rule that whenever I am traveling near any body of water, I choose fish at restaurants. So, when I got to the end of the earth in Ushuaia, I couldn’t wait to try some king crab. What better place than La Cantina Fueguina De Freddy – which has a crab right in its logo?!

Freddy’s was highly recommended, and it was very busy when we walked in (always a good sign).

Not wanting to go through the rigamarole of a bib and trying to get through a whole crab, I chose the Centolla a la Cantina dish – king crab, mussels and shrimp with a cream sauce. This dish was to die for. It gave me a taste of several local shellfish (all delicious) and the cream sauce was rich and absolutely delicious.

I loved this restaurant, and the warm and prompt service was excellent. In fact, after enjoying our meal and a bottle of excellent malbec wine, my two travel mates (the “Sue’s”) and I looked around and realized we were the only people left in the restaurant! Even so, we never felt rushed by the staff here – just a friendly wave as we finally made our way home for the night.
