Finishing up a great night in Vancouver’s Gastown area, we turned the corner from Blood Alley, and found a gem of a bar!
L’Abbatoir looks like a fantastic restaurant, but we sidled up to the bar for a nightcap after hearing great things about its innovative cocktail menu.
We had a great time chatting with the friendly and knowledgable bartender, and after some back and forth, we landed on some interesting drinks. David had a Police Gazette – apparently a cocktail from way back in the day (like early 1900’s) with Rye, dry vermouth, dry curacao, maraschino and orange bitters. A boozy cocktail right up his alley.
I had something that was a special for the night, and I couldn’t hear the name of it (even after asking twice) – but it had something to do with the pink looking like blood. Anyway, it was pink and like a pisco sour but with tequila, and very tasty.
A drink each was enough for us, but we really enjoyed this little visit to l’Abbatoir!
