One of my favourite things to do in a new city is check out their market. It’s so much fun to see local fish, meat and produce and it tells you a lot about a place.

La Boqueria is a very busy market along Las Ramblas – the main tourist street in Barcelona. Our concierge at The Mercer told us we should see it once and never go back… and we understood exactly what he meant when we went there. VERY busy, and VERY touristy. But, it has La Boqueria, and we were happy to see it.

The thing that stands out in my mind about the market is the Iberico Ham – it’s amazing to see them hanging out (not just at this market, but everywhere in spain). And once you try it, you understand the cultural obsession. This cured ham has a very salty and rich taste, and we absolutely loved it. Now, how do we get some of that around here in Regina??
