Montecito is a gorgeous and delicious farm to table restaurant in downtown Toronto. The concept is California Italian cuisine … owned by director Ivan Reitman.
My good friend Sue loves this place and told me about the owner (but I might have guessed seeing the Ghostbusters marshmallow man at the front desk!).
The moment I walked I I was struck by the beauty of the restaurant and the Cinema theme throughout.
Sue raved about the kale salad with pecorino and anchovy dressing, with the kale massaged by hand. I really loved the brightness of this dish.
For our entrees I chose the oricchiette with broccoli, chilli and ricotta – the broccoli was so flavourful!
Sue chose the squash agnolotti with brown butter, sage and truffle.
Overall I really loved the ambience and wonderful friendly service at Montecito restaurant … including the aromatic Ontario peach tea to end the night.
But most of all, it was wonderful to reconnect with Sue … who I met one year ago on a trip to Argentina. We reminisced over Malbec Argentinian wine of course! thank you Sue for a fantastic restaurant recommendation and even better company.
