I love to make salsa but I don’t always make it entirely from scratch. The salsa I buy at the store is great for nachos but if I’m making a Mexican meal I’ll add some fresh stuff to it to brighten it up a little. I love the taste of lime in my salsa so I make sure to get all of that flavour in with the juice and the rind of the lime. Seeding the fresh tomatoes is important too. Removing the seeds takes out some of the acid that’s in the tomatoes and it reduces the water content of your salsa. I don’t want my salsa to be to runny.

Ingredients:

1 jar of Herdez Salsa
2 tomatoes – seeded and chopped
1/2 Bermuda onion – chopped
1/4 Green pepper – chopped
1/2 cup cilantro – chopped
1/2 Tsp chilli flakes
1/2 Tsp garlic powder
Zest of 1 lime
Juice of 1 lime

Preparation:

Seed and chop the tomatoes. Put in a bowl with the onions, green pepper, cilantro, chilli flakes, garlic powder and lime. Add store bought salsa to fill the bowl up to the desired level. Enjoy.
