I have to be honest, I am not a big fan of buffets. I usually end up eating way too much because it is there (so much of it) and you want to get your money’s worth. Or at least, that’s how I was raised by my dad!

As part of my amazing hotel rate at the Encore in Las Vegas, I received a complimentary breakfast or lunch buffet each day. So, of course, I took advantage of it. Considered one of the best buffet’s in town, I can see why.

I usually hit the breakfast buffet – which is a cheaper option (I think around $20) and an overall lighter option. I stuck to fruit, breads, eggs and hasbrowns (the jalepeno hashbrown square was delightful). I also really enjoyed the coconut tapioca pudding. There were a lot more lunch dishes available (asian noodles and potstickers, mexican nachos and beans, italian pizza), but I wanted to buck the trend of eating until I burst.

I only went for the lunch buffet once, and it featured less eggs and fruit and more fare from around the world. I really enjoyed the pizza (very light crust, just the way I like it) and the gazpacho soup was interesting. At $28 a plate, it’s pretty pricey for a family.

I only had a couple of the delightful treats laid out in the pastry bar (I am not much of a sweets person), but people all around me were raving about the options.

Overall, I was very thankful that the hotel gave me a rate with breakfast or lunch included. I enjoyed the breakfast the most, in part because I didn’t overdo it.
